Sue's Country Barn Sale

Sue's Country Barn is open for business again!  Sue only opens for a couple of weeks in April and October, so when those barn doors opened on Friday morning, I was there waiting.  What a great way to start off the weekend.  Once again the barn was packed full of fabulous treasures and eye candy in every corner.

A bathtub full of pumpkins and a rusty old bike greet you in front of the barn.

Another "hello" when you walk in.

Lots of fall decor.....

and timeless treasures......

Too cute.  They look worried that they won't be adopted.

Love the chippy paint on these wall sconces.

Sue's Country Barn is located at 12607 E. Hwy 120 in Manteca, Ca.  She'll be open daily from 10:00-5:00 through October 30th.  Sorry, no website, blog, or email.  You can click here for a peek at Sue's barn sale from last April.

I would have bought everything here if money was no option I wasn't so cheap.  I sure had fun oohing and ahhing, but I've become so spoiled with yard sale prices.  I almost left empty handed until I spotted this sitting outside full of dirt and grime....

I know, I know, it's still a mess in need of a major cleaning job, but it's the perfect metal storage piece I've been looking for.  You can't tell from this picture, but the slots are at an angle when hung on a wall.  I'm in the beginning stages of moving my work space into an upstairs bedroom and knew exactly where to hang it.  So much for plan A.  The cubbie is 5' long and the wall is 4'6".  Unfortunately, it won't fit on any other wall because of the doors, windows, and cabinets.  I'm determined to make this work in that spot, so now it's on to plan B.  I hope it works!

  1. Gorgeous eye candy! I would be ohhing and awwing with you but also probably not buying! I am so!!!

  2. What a fabulous find, Betsy!!! I don't know if I'll make it down there this go-around, maybe I'll go on my birthday . . . I'm like you, when I go to these things I'm thinking, hmmmm, if I could find this at a yard/garage/estate sale it'll be cheaper . . .

I went to Willows to the Vintage Flea Market this weekend. What an absolutely beautiful setting. I finally found the Kodak Brownie camera I've been wanting and the price was "ok" :)

  3. That caddy is to die at first sight here! Wow..what a fun place.

    Love your new etsy shop.

  4. Lots of eye candy, but I would have probably left empty handed also. Unless it was something I could repurpose into jewelry. :D Thanks for sharing your day with us.

  5. What great displays and items! I would have found it hard to hold onto my cash. Love your purchase.

  6. I would have gotten lost in all of these goodies! I saw a corner cab that could have been mine...all mine!! That seltzer bottle had my name written all over it! LOL! Really, this was a shopping, I have to go and lie down...that about wore me out! I just can't keep up with you! LOL Love You

  7. I love the metal storage piece you found and I'm intrigued--do you know what it's original purpose was?

  8. What fun it would be to have a barn sale twice a year. Even more fun to go! There has got to be a way to cut those fabulous bins down to size, how a bout a reciprocating saw, mine cuts through metal, I used to cut some metal rain spouts! Can't wait to see what you are doing with it!

  9. Love the shortage bin. I would have picked that up myself. Maybe you can cut in it half and place one above the other and only loose one bin.

  10. Oh, these are great photos. Thanks for sharing with us so we could ooh and ahh as well. Those little Scottie s&ps might have come home with me if I'd seen them. That look is one I know well from my own Scotties.

I know what you mean about paying higher than yard sale or thrift prices. I spotted a nice program from the 30's this past week in an antique store while I was on vacation and didn't get it. Now I wish I had. I just couldn't bring myself to pay $10 for it. (It featured a Scottie dog as many items from the 30's did.) Oh, well; when I find something similar at a much more reasonable price, I'll be delighted.

  11. Hi Betsy! I can't wait for your repurposed and upcycled projects! Please show it to us soon :) Have a great week!

  12. Hi Betsy! I can't wait for your repurposed and upcycled projects! Please show it to us soon :) Have a great week!

  13. I'd love to attend such a Barn Sale as this one! That deconstructed Chair is a piece I'd want to own. Glad you scored the perfect piece!

Thank you for stopping by my French Market Post... I really went berserk with the Photography and editing is not my strong point *winks*, so the next Post is completely going to be over the top to cram all the rest of the amazing visuals in! *LOL* I too remember Thrifty Ice-Cream with a heavy dose of Nostalgia, thankfully there are still a few places that carry it locally.

  14. Wow. If I start driving right now I may be able to get there. I love that green and red chippy cabinet. Gorgeous stuff.

  15. I loved those cattle tags! Fantastic store!

  16. What a great barn sale! I wish we had sales like that around here!!! Love your new storage piece!!!

  17. So many wonderful pieces...I'm with you though, I have trouble spending over $10 on any type of "salvaged" item. My mom is always trying to push me up to $15, but that's out of my comfort zone :) Besides, it's not a challenge unless it's a good deal. I do love your new shelf...I may not understand the piece you bought, but would it be possible to stand it vertically and use for storage? Good Luck with the room.

  18. I spy some really cool stuff. I like the piece you came home with. Thanks for the tour.

  19. ooooo! Betsy!! I wish I'd known you were going, or I would have given you some cash to swipe those Catholic figures!!! ♥ This looks like such a fun place to shop. I've been meaning to write you for a while and tell you that I got a bag full of rhinestone goodies at a sale this summer. There was one piece in particular that made me think of you. It is an old, tiny, skinny watch face. It has a few little rhinestones around the face...I probably won't do anything with it- would you be interested in it? If so, send me your address via my email, and I'll mail it to ya!

  20. Such fun treasures everywhere! You know, you can cut through sheet metal..... just sayin'

  21. I want everything there! How much was the dress form? I pine for one....and all the rust, wow, wish I could just pop on by and buy it all! Good luck with the metal storage thingy, it'll work out don't you worry. And thanks for linking up over at the Club G.W. {Goodwill} with Charm Bracelet Diva party! I look forward to your links each week!

  22. It looks like a fun place to go and so much to choose from. I love vintage things.

  23. I know what you mean about the sticker shock, I sometimes even get it at the Goodwill! Ha! Good luck with plan B.

  24. Ooh, I saw lots of treasures in that barn, Betsy. But, like you, I'm spoiled to thrift stores, yard sales, auctions... Something has to be REALLY special to make me pay "show" prices. I can see that bin as being one of those special exception pieces for you. ;)
