Antique Show Fun and Finds

It was a fun day at the Alameda Point Antiques Faire on Sunday.  The weather was perfect and the show was packed full of dealers, but I had a limited amount of time to shop.  My goal for the day was to find small stuff to replenish my jewelry making supplies, but once again I got distracted by chippy paint and rust.

This rusty old birdcage is staying with me for now.  I'm not too sure where I'll put it,
but I love it and I'll find a spot.

There was a dealer selling grain sack remnants for $1.00 each.  Such a deal!!  I picked through them and found seven pieces large enough to really have some fun with.  The shelf was another impulse buy, but sturdy as a rock and full of potential.

I would have bought more of these little drawers, but these were the only ones left.  The dealer sold dozens of them all morning long; too bad I didn't get to his booth earlier.  Kind of a strange finish, but so much character.

I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything big, but that all went out the window when I spotted this old crib.   I think it was meant to be portable because of the wheels, and it's smaller than a standard crib.
It's missing a few parts, but it has so much potential if I piece it out.

Look at these wheels, perfectly rusted and chipped.

Such sweet details.

This stash will keep me busy awhile.

I see necklaces here after they get a good cleaning.

Earrings, lots of earrings.

I seriously need to stay more focused.  Do you get as distracted as I do when you're out treasure hunting?

  33. I saw two bird cages on Tuesday as I perused through my favorite local antique shop and I THOUGHT of all the blogs that feature them in their decor. I didn't get either of them as I tend to take my decor in slightly different directions - - - besides, we live in a small duplex and the bird cages I saw would just kinda take the place OVER!

Hmmmmm though - - - I never THOUGHT of using one of them as a back patio decor piece. I may have to give THAT some more thought - - -

  35. Yes, I find it very difficult to stay on track. I also have a small house and like you often bring home more and more big items that just call out my name even though I don't have room for any more projects. The linens for 1.00 would all have come home with me. The bird cage . . . Yep, that one, too. I'm a new Linky Follower linking up today through Vintage Thingie Thursday.
