Little Treasures

I sure had fun as a shopper instead of a vendor at the Lodi Street Faire a few weeks ago.  I've been selling out there twice a year for about twelve years, but had to sit this one out because I wasn't sure what my scheduled work day would be at the Paris Flea Market.  As a vendor I rarely have time to do any shopping, so for the first time at this show I was able to make my way through the street with a shopping cart in tow.

One of the first things I spotted was a large jar containing these beauties; the jar was pretty cool too.  I would have been perfectly content if this was my only purchase.

I can't choose favorites...I love them all.

Look at their formation as they break free from the pack.  I see bracelets, lots of bracelets.

I discovered these little gems in the ugliest of boxes.  It doesn't matter what the container looks like, I always have to look inside.

Doesn't it look like peppermint candy?

A ring of mismatched silverware for garden markers and picture holders.

I couldn't resist these tarnished sterling salt & pepper shakers.  I like them just the way they are, but maybe I'll clean 'em up just enough to bring out some of the detail.

This sweet Campbell's soup spoon is my favorite.  No, I won't be taking the hammer to him.
I didn't get pictures of everything, but it was a good day.

These antique show treasures have been brought to you by this large, chippy, turquoise cabinet door I found at another show last month.  The dealer had three of them, and two were being purchased just as I laid eyes on them.  Thank you very much for leaving one for me.

  5. Good Afternoon Betsy, My eyes popped out of my head when I saw the range of beautiful buttons you had discovered.
Do you know, there is something lovely about mismatched cutlery.... the same as mismatched dinner and tea plates. It adds to an air of informality.
You sound like you had a lovely day. A nice change for you to be able to enjoy the goods on offer.
    Best Wishes

Love the silverware (natch), and ANYTHING turquoise has my heart... my favorite colour of all!

Oh and good point about checking out the inside of boxes - you've proved you can't judge a book by its cover or an ugly box by the treasures inside!

  11. Lovely -- especially the silver. Someone once told me while shopping at estate sales to 'always look inside the box' and that continues to be good advice judging by your scores here!
