Treasures for the Faire

I've been so busy in the garage this week with cleaning, pricing, and packing for the Pleasanton Antique Faire this Sunday.  I'd be doing myself a huge favor if I just cleaned and priced everything as soon as I get home, but they always end up stashed away until the last minute rush.  Except for a few things that will be used in other projects, most of the goodies I found over the last couple of weekends will be coming with me to the show.

A chippy blue shelf.

repurposed vintage wooden baby car seat
Once known as an infant car seat.

repurposed vintage baby car seat
So cute as a shelf, but so scary as a car seat.

infanseat vintage baby car seat
Before seat belts were standard, the long rope would hold the seat in place.  Oh my!!

vintage wooden baby car seat used as a plant shelf
Do you think an extra thick diaper would make this wooden seat more comfortable?

blue vintage typewriter
Love the color of this one.  It works great, just needs a new ribbon.

vintage door knobs and metal box
A serving tray full of little treasures.

vintage hats
Every hat needs a touch of bling.

vintage evening bags and eye glasses
I can't believe the woman I bought these from was actually parting with Granny's spectacles.....

vintage evening bags
and her evening bags.

No junking adventure is complete without some rusty stuff.
vintage junky finds
Sifters and metal containers for planting, railroad lantern, heavy hook, huge funnel, and
that big roll of perfectly weathered wire fencing.  I got the "look" when that roll came out
 of my truck.

  4. Well at least some people USED a car seat. I can remember standing next to my dad, on the front seat, while he drove. Good golly.
The only look you would get from me over that wire is a look of envy! 8+)

  5. Yikes. I hope no babies ever needed its protection, because it has none. But what a sweet, cool vintage shelf it makes!

  10. That car seat looks uncomfortable and unsafe - yikes! Love the blue color though. And I spotted those gorgeous old glass door knobs! I'd buy those up in a NY minute. They make terrific stands for make-dos.

  15. Holy crap! An infant car seat??? I love that you left the sticker on it - otherwise I doubt people would believe it.

I just LOVE anything turquoise - wow, what a nice typewriter! Rats! Why do I have to live so far away???

Har! About the "look" you got... they aren't used to this by now? Awesome rusty treasures!

  16. Great finds!! How ingenious...A car seat made into a plant hanger! I remember my little brother had a car seat that was just plastic and hung over the back seat, they weren't meant for safety just a place too keep the child.

  19. Lovely shades of blue! I love looking at each picture Betsy. Can I even claim that this post is for me since it carries my favorite color? haha

If only home is not faraway from your place, I would love to volunteer to be your assistant. I wanted to personally see your creations.

  23. You're right, the car seat makes a much better shelf, and a super cute shelf too. I never price things until the last minute too and I always ask myself why do I wait. Good luck at your show. Wish I was coming up that way so I could visit.
