Upcycled Fruit Pickin' Basket

Several months ago I shared some of the goodies I accumulated from a few different yard sales and a flea market adventure. Most of them are long gone now, but that old fruit picking basket is still hanging around.  Even though the redesign was finished a long time ago, I couldn't decide what I wanted it to be.

how to repurpose an old fruit picking basket
It was a finished project without a purpose until last week when I brought home a big bag
 of cherries.

turn a fruit picking basket into a basket for holding cherries
Fruit in the fruit picking basket makes perfect sense and is so obvious...maybe that's why
it never occurred to me.

architectural salvage and lamp parts base
I peeled off all the remaining orange paint and sprayed the rusty basket with matte acrylic sealer.  The architectural piece was left over from another project and the glass piece came from my stash of old lamp parts.  I drilled a hole large enough to accommodate the base of the basket, then glued it in place with Gorilla glue.  I think I used E6000 for the lamp part.

But wait!  What's better than a basket full of cherries?

Don't you wish these grew on trees?

  22. Door knobs of different sizes and colors on trees hahaha And I just wish that that there are also trees that can spare a drop of your repurposing and upcycling talent. If there is, I will be one of those who will patiently line up. Haha

    Have a great weekend Betsy!
