Little Cubbies

You have to know by now that I have a weakness for little storage compartments, drawers, and boxes.  It's almost impossible for me to pass up anything with rustic charm that would be good for displaying decorative accessories or for storing my supplies.  As soon as I spotted this beauty at The Paris Flea Market last weekend, I knew it had to be mine.

It's a good thing I arrived early for my shift because it gave me time to slap a sold ticket on it and move it behind another piece of furniture for safe keeping.

2 1/2' wide, almost 3' high, and 24 cozy cubbies waiting to be filled with treasures.

The base is twice as wide as the top, so it won't shouldn't topple over when it's full.

It looks to me like she took the back off to paint the inside.  Smart move.

I'd love to take credit for the addition of the jute webbing, but it came that way.  A perfect addition don't you think?

I'm still debating on where to put it.  It will either be going in a guest room, on top of a desk I have in the front entry, or in the family room.  I can just see it full of ornaments for Christmas, gourds for Thanksgiving, maybe a few nests in the spring, and a lot of little junk year-round.  So many possibilities.

  2. I do the twelve days of Christmas for my grandgirls and this would be a tread place to store all of the little trinkets they get each day. Darling box.

  4. I vote for on top of a desk and yes to seasonal sweetness! I'm thinking 'back to school' right now so tiny apples, stubby pencils, paint box, erasers, some rolled up pieces of notebook paper or folded 'football' paper like we used to play across the lunch room tables! A Dick and Jane primer sitting on the table and some pencils in a bouquet...Maybe I should make one of those sweet boxes!! FUN FIND!

  14. Your storage bin is great, it would hold loads of material, thread, and craft supplies, or it would be beautiful for your Christmas stuff, as well. Have a Blessed day.

  31. Hi Betsy, I saw a photo snippet of your cubbie from the sidebar at http://askmichelesomethingspecial.blogspot.com/ and thought it looked just like the one I just painted and sold at Paris Flea Market so I clicked over…and it’s the same one! Woooohooo! I’m sooooo glad you love your new cubbie! Once I painted it, added the numbers and jute webbing to it, I was in LOVE and it was hard to give up. Makes me happy that you love it too! I have one more just like it, but a bit smaller, to get done before the next sale. But if I can find a spot for it in my studio, I might just have to keep it.
