I'll Shop in the Rain

Yard sales have been quiet around here lately because of all the rain we've been getting. I'm sure not going to complain about it because we really, really need it, but why do we have to get it all at once?  Keep it coming nice and steady throughout the week, then let's dry out for the weekend.  Oh well, I don't mind dodging a few raindrops or risking a bad hair day as long as there's something out there to buy.  Here's some of what I came home with after a couple of rainy day sales and a sunny day sale too.

The cabinet and gold sconces are waiting in line for a paint job.  Did I say I don't like avocado green?  The sweet little red chair and bird feeder are good to go just the way are.

Ryan once owned the biggest clothespin I've ever seen.  I'm thinking it might have been a high school woodshop project.

The "almost free" tarnished candlesticks caught my eye right away.  I didn't even notice they were sterling until I got them home.  I think the brass door knocker will get painted and become a towel holder.

The galvanized buckets will be getting labels like the ones I posted about here.  The heavy and ornate iron container is a reproduction, but I love the color and it even has some real rust
 on it.

I'd much rather find a case with the typewriter still inside, but I buy them even when they're empty.  Click here to see a quick and easy way to give a manual typewriter case a faux chalkboard look.

I almost passed on this tall birdcage and stand because it was a bit messy.  What can I say?  Birds lived in it.

After hosing it down, I added a glass knob to the hole in the top.

Then I added a silver tray to the cracked base pan.   A larger plant would be nice, but at least this one is blooming.

Stay dry, warm, and safe where you are!!

  7. OMG Betsy, Did you hear me squeaking? This enormous clothespin is THE clothespin of my dreams. Not that I've ever dreamed of one, but if I would, this would be the one. I want it so bad but even if you'd sell it, I know that I couldn't afford the overseas postage. It got so incredibly expensive, sigh, sigh and sigh. If you don't keep it yourself, I hope it will get a good home. I love the buckets, the candlesticks and the birdcage too, btw. :).
    Hugs,
    Julia

  8. Looks like a successful day of "yard saleing" To me.
Probably won't be seeing many sales around here for some time. Saw on weather this morning "they" are saying the month of March will be colder than normal. :/
