Musical Thread Spools

It's April 1st and the Spring issue of Jewelry Affaire Magazine is officially on the news stands. When my complimentary copy came in the mail last week, I dropped everything I was doing and sat down to go through it cover to cover.  Two of my musical thread spool necklaces are featured in the Whimsical Wares section.  La, la, la, la and Amazing Grace.

Thank you so much Jewelry Affaire.  I'm honored to be featured in this quality publication with so many talented and creative artists.

Fresh off the assembly line and in my Etsy shop is a new batch of these whimsical wares.
This time I used both sheet music and a page from a 1947 typing manual to cover the spools.  Each one was decorated with little bits and pieces to fit the theme of the spool, then sealed with 2-3 coats of matte or sparkle Mod Podge.  You can see my last two batches here: Spool Necklaces and here: Spool Necklaces and a Repurposed Lamp.  Do you have any idea how many times one of these songs was stuck in my head while I was putting these together?

  25. Wow! I just found your blog and am blown away by these spool pendants!!! My questions is....where do you get them? Do you do that much sewing that you have an endless supply or do you have a sewing store that provides them after a class? GREAT use for an otherwise throwaway item!!

    1. I can't comment directly to you because you are a noreply blogger...hope you see this:-)
I rarely sew at all, but find all the spools in vintage stores or flea markets. There's a huge supply online too...Etsy, Ebay. Hope this helps.
