How to Add Vintage Character to a New Cloche

A few months ago I found this new cloche and base at a yard sale complete with its original packaging and price tag. I thought the green crackle glaze base gave it a bit of vintage character, but it still needed a little something.

It needed a lift from random vintage parts, and it needed to be filled with some spring inspiration.

turn old lamp parts into a unique cloche base
I put the base together using these two volunteers from my lamp parts drawer. The heavy copper piece on the right looked close enough to a lamp part to end up in that drawer, but I have no idea what it was originally used for.

After cleaning both pieces with #0000 steel wool, I connected them with a bolt and washer. To age the new bolt and washer, I applied a small amount of Sophisticated Finishes Antiquing Solution. (affiliate link*)

A perfect marriage. They were meant to be together.

So much better with a vintage lift!

Some of the other cloches I put together with bits and pieces of old junk.....

  12. It's just perfect! Love that it came with a bit of green charm all its own, too. Was at a big local monthly flea market today and thought of you, there were so many "parts" to be had, but I didn't even know where to begin. I know you would have had a field day:) Hope all is well. xo Kathleen Charm Bracelet Diva {At Home}

  18. I need to look around to see what I can play with. I have a small cloche and it just needs some quirky pieces to give it height. If I think like you, I bet I have things here around the house.
