My Latest Junking Finds

I was out of town for several days last week and took a break from working on any new projects. Even though I had a full schedule planned with family and friends, I did manage to squeeze in a few yard sales on Saturday morning.

chippy red metal box and National Mfg. Co. builders hardware crate
The only thing that caught my eye at the first sale was this chippy red metal box. I grabbed it and never let go when the lady said she wanted 25 whole cents for it!

National Mfg. Co. builders hardware crate
This National Mfg. Co. crate was found at the last sale of the morning. I almost didn't notice the writing on both sides because it was being used to display a load of other treasures.

junking finds, silver ice bucket, vintage oval frames and french tin
I vowed not to buy any more projects, but those wooden oval frames were too hard to resist at just $2.00 each. I like the prints, and the frames will be beautified with a quick coat of paint. I'll probably put an indoor plant in the ice bucket, then use the flashlight case and aluminum canister as bud vases.

box of vintage lace and trim
What is it about vintage lace and trim?

For $2.00 I didn't even bother picking through the box. I thought it was so funny that they made sure the plastic box was included.

collection of vintage tins, cardboard egg carton, Listerine bottle
All of these vintage containers came from the same sale. You wouldn't believe the collection this lady was eager to unload.

vintage tins found at a yard sale
People were buying them left and right as I minded my manners and carefully picked out a few fun things.

antique cigar and tobacco tin with paper label
It was the graphics on this old cigar/tobacco tin that really caught my eye. The tattered paper label has seen better days, but the wood veneer lining inside is still intact.

Have you found any good old junk lately?

  23. Oh my gosh - THAT LACE!! Love the tobacco tin, too and the red box. I'd rather have the folks that love old things visit my booth but I'd sure rather buy from the ones who think it is just a bunch of old junk - hehehe!
