Playing with Buckets

Anything galvanized is at the top of my focus list when I'm out treasure hunting, but there's something about the old buckets I can't resist.  Sometimes I come across a load of them all at one sale, and sometimes I find them one by one over the course of a few months.

Last week I posted about this poultry fount (aka chicken waterer) that I found at a barn sale.  It was looking mighty dirty and in need of some TLC when I brought it home.

Each piece was dressed up with a stencil I made using the Modern No. 20 font on my
 Silhouette Cameo.   

I used black acrylic paint for the stencil, then sprayed both pieces with a coat of clear matte sealer.

No. 2 slips right over No. 1 and locks in place to control the flow of water into the pan.  Now that it's retired from watering chickens, it has a simpler life just being decorative as two separate pieces.

I found this little wooden bucket/firkin in an antique mall last summer, but I didn't know what I wanted to do with it until I saw what Sandi at A Cottage Muse did with hers.  A couple layers of chalk paint and a chocolate inspired label from The Graphics Fairy gave it a new life.  Thanks for the inspiration Sandi.
