Before we get to the features from last week's VIP, I wanted to let everyone know that I've teamed up with some of the most creative and talented junkers out there to invite you a Salvage STYLE Party. Nine of us have created our own salvage style junk projects to share for this event, and we're hoping you can join us starting Sunday, October 5th 6:00PST to link up some of your best past and present salvaged junk. We all love hosting the Vintage Inspiration Party. It's such a good reminder of what a little creativity can do, and we love seeing all these new uses for otherwise discarded items. A Tour of Mes Amis Vintage Antique Show

We had such a fun time last weekend at the Mes Amis Vintage Antique Show. It was a hot and humid day, so I think we were all happy that the show had moved to its new indoor location. It was really nice to come in early on Friday to set up and still have time to unwind before the show opened in the early evening. It was even better to come back on Saturday morning with everything all set up and ready to go. I sold a lot of things that I just found or made a few weeks before, and I sold a lot of things that I'd been hauling around for far too long. Is there a legal limit to how long some junk can linger?

This post is picture heavy, so I'll keep the narration to a minimum. The first six pictures are from my booth.

I took a lot of pictures before the show officially opened on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. There was so much to see and I tried to remember where I was when I took each picture, but that just didn't happen. Let's take a walk around.....

I've been admiring Darrielle's beautiful furniture makeovers for quite a while, so it was really fun to see everything up close and personal. Darrielle and her friend Heather did such a good job displaying all their treasures.

Looking forward to the next Mes Amis Vintage Antique Show in April. I'll be taking a break from a few of my regular large shows this fall to give my aching back a much need rest and to play catch up with things that have been on the back burner for too long. It's all good; I'm still keeping my smaller shows in the schedule.

This week it was my turn to choose the features from last week's party. Here's what really caught my eye:

Flower Patch Farmhouse gives us step by step instructions on how to create this wonderful Victorian garden bench.

My Thrift Store Addiction shared her steampunk inspired pumpkin patch. I love the big pumpkin made from a roof turbine and a flower pot.

Lavender Dreams showed off part of her fabulous shell collection. I love the printers tray that she used to display the collection on her coffee table.

Ivy and Elephants has some of the most gorgeous vintage collections. This week she shared several of her silhouettes including these two small hand-painted beauties.

I love these sweet pumpkins made from drop cloths by Simply Country Life. There's a great tutorial too.

You wouldn't believe the before picture of this gorgeous antique vanity shared by CD's Country Living.

The Junk I Found

Happy Friday! I can't believe how fast this week has gone by. I've been so busy getting ready for Mes Amis Vintage Antique Show and just finally came up for air yesterday. I'm headed over to set up for the show this morning, so it's going to be another busy day. I wish you were all close enough to attend, but just in case you are, Mes Amis will be held 6:00pm-9:00pm tonight and 9:00am-3:00pm on Saturday at the Placer County Fairgrounds in Roseville, Ca. I wanted to share the junk I bought out at Alameda Point almost two weeks ago. Some of it is still waiting for a little TLC, and some I've tackled and have packed up ready to go to Mes Amis. You can see pictures of the fabulous junk I encountered here. I didn't buy that much considering the hundreds of booths I passed through, but at least I came home happy and didn't spend every dime in my wallet. (Or every $20 bill in my wallet because nothing out there costs a dime).

Large brass numbers and drawer pulls/markers. The little stencils will eventually become necklaces.

The sweet tattered French music book has writing all over it and the pages are falling out, but it has some wonderful graphics. I'm still searching for a nice frame for the silhouette. I did something with the frames that involves twine, a vintage portrait, and a clip on earring.

You must think I've lost my mind to buy something like this!! I thought so too until I figured out what to do with part of it. It's called an irrigation dam and it would be attached to a pipe buried in the ground. The red handle could be pulled straight up to allow the water to flow through.

Now it's a chalkboard. The challenging part will be to figure out what to do with the other half.

A couple of chippy metal and glass trivets and two clock faces. The clock face on the right has a convex glass cover that opens and a tiny level under the 12.

One of the clock faces was a perfect fit on top of this little urn, and.....

a small cloche was a perfect fit on top of the clock face. Just enough room inside for a baby pumpkin.

Not a whole lot of silverware this trip, but enough to make another batch of silverware handle necklaces. The galvanized dust pan will hang on a wall and hold three tiny vintage bottles that are perfect for single blooms.

These beautiful vintage doorknobs weren't exactly a bargain, but I needed more to complete a few projects.

A few more bits and pieces of mismatched and broken jewelry. I'd say about 40% of this has been used in other creations so far.

Isn't this the sweetest little box? It's made from a 6" section of an old wooden rain gutter with pieces of metal nailed to each end. I glued on the bling just because it needed a little something to contrast with the chippy old wood. I'll be adding old wooden rain gutters to my focus list now!

Last, but not least.....the only thing that wouldn't fit into my shopping cart.
