Winter Wonderland Paintings

Look what I found hiding in a closet at an estate sale. The two of them were leaning against the wall and partially hidden by a pile of outdated stereo equipment, but it was worth the long reach into the closet to get a closer look.

Paint by number? Someone did a much better job at blending the colors than what I usually see. They're not exactly what I'd have hanging around in my home all year long, but after a simple makeover I thought they'd be perfect during the holidays.

Much better after a coat of snowy white paint, but they still needed a little something extra.

Bottle brush trees to the rescue! I gathered a few vintage items from around the house to use as tree stands.

I love the sweet country barn...

...and the farmhouse next door.

I think they'll be perfect propped up on my living room fireplace mantel once I finally have a chance to dig out the rest of my Christmas treasures. Is there anyone else out there who hasn't done a bit of Christmas decorating yet? Why do I feel so alone, LOL?

The last several days have been pretty hectic for me because we'll be hosting this year and I'm still working on wrapping up some last minute details. One more trip to the grocery store tomorrow before the cooking marathon begins, then the best part of all is when family starts to arrive. Creative Country Mom went with simple vintage touches to decorate her home for Christmas.

Cabin and Cottage shared some gorgeous vintage children's clothing.

Industrial Storage Cubby

Several weeks ago I found this large, very heavy, rusty, dirty, and scratched metal industrial storage cubby at a warehouse sale. I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but I loved the rustic charm, the decent price, and all 72 little compartments. I did NOT love the stickers.

I shared it on my Facebook page asking for suggestions on how to remove the ugly stickers, and received over 200 comments. Thank you all so much for your great ideas! The advise ranged from Goo Gone to peanut butter, dish washing soap to turpentine, Citrus Splash air freshener to a heat gun, eucalyptus oil to a razor blade, and elbow grease to patience and a shot of tequila (my favorite).

I went with what I had around the house, but nothing was going to completely remove these stubborn stickers. If they had been more vintage looking I would have left them alone and saved myself a lot of trouble and tequila!

Time for plan Z.

Someone suggested covering up the stickers with Washi tape; I didn't have any, but I did have a roll of chalkboard vinyl.

I cut the vinyl into 1" strips, slid the 36" strips through the slots, then called it done. But wait. I think it needs wheels. Yes, it needs wheels, and wheels it will get if it doesn't sell and I end up keeping it.

It'll be great for storing junk, stuff, misc, bits, pieces, parts, odds, and ends.

You're going to love every detail of this amazing Christmas home tour shared by Restyle Relove. Everything looks so cozy and festive.

Lost & Found shows us how she decorated her booth for the holidays. I love the red and blue theme and all the vintage toys.

What an incredible find shared by Minnesota Junker. This wonderful old desk organizer was found at Junk Bonanza and it's a perfect fit on top of her Hoosier. I love the vintage treasures displayed in all the nooks and crannies.

Twelve 0 Eight shares a great tutorial on how to make this pretty wreath with book pages, paper, and pine cones.

Isn't this clever? Artsy VaVa created this whimsical snowman from an old industrial cable spool end. She included a link to some of the other projects she made from more of these spool ends.

Who doesn't need more storage? My Love 2 Create shows us how she made this under the bed rolling storage container from old drawers and a fence board. Love this thrifty project!

I think this book angel from Thrifty Rebel is adorable. She included a step by step tutorial that looks real easy and very forgiving if you make a mistake.

Anastasia Vintage used an old flour sifter as a plant holder, then she created a cute little shelf for it to sit on. You'll also have to check out what she did with two old colanders.
