Spool Necklaces

I've been working on replenishing my jewelry inventory for my final show of the year on December 1st and 2nd.  So far, so good, and I think I'm finally ready to go.  My stash of vintage wooden thread spools was still sitting on my desk staring at me, so I decided to make up another batch of spool necklaces since I haven't had any in my inventory for well over a year.

A fluted cake mold holds my supply of vintage wooden thread spools.  It was getting a little crowed in there, so I grabbed a few naked spools and started decorating them.

I love you still
IT HAD TO BE YOU
my ALOHA MOON
I cut out the words from a few pages of sheet music and applied them with Mod Podge.  This was the first time I tried glitter Mod Podge, and I like the way it adds a bit of sparkle to the necklace.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Anyone brave enough to be out there
on Black Friday?

I stayed in and attempted to do a bit of decorating - and I do mean a bit. Should have worked on some gifts. :/
    Enjoy your evening.

Those are adorable, Betsy! I have a bunch of old wooden thread spools too, but just haven't been motivated to do anything with them yet - might have to go get mine out and tinker with them!

I did go out today, but well after all the good sales had passed. I'm just not that driven to get up early!

Love the spool necklaces. I must check out the glitter mod podge. It looks great on the spools.

We asked our friends to join us on a day trip to a remote town called Crown King in the mountains outside Phoenix. 27 miles on non-paved winding roads but it was worth the drive. We discovered a quaint little village where we had lunchaway from all the hustle and bustle of Black Friday.

Fab! I did this with white Christmas music sheet for my trees. Nope not shopping today but did pull the tree and decorations out of the closet.

Hope you had a great turkey day!

I love your style and your goodies, so glad to have found you! I love these necklaces, especially the glitter! Will make great gifts for music-lovers! Black Friday, my in-laws and I always go antiquing, this year in downtown Gilbert, AZ. I got vintage ice skates to go with my vintage sled I scored last month--I also got boots for 40% off, I am a hapy girl! :)

Oh gosh those are cute! I was thinking of you as I cleaned out all my old jewelry the other day and how you can think up something to do with just about anything.

I didn't do Black Friday shopping, nor did I go out shopping Saturday or today. I think I'm going to give the online shopping thing a whirl just for fun. I haven't even started shopping and don't have a clue what to get anyone. :( Guess I better get working on that!

Betsey these are so adorable! I do like the glitter and might have to try that glitter mod podge on something. do you ever have to unwind thread from the spools to make these and if so, do you do anything with the thread?

These are the most adorable things I have ever seen! Is it the jump ring that keeps the eye pin from coming through the hole of the spool at the bottom?

  53. penguinstamperSeptember 25, 2015 at 2:16 PM

Never mind! A response isn't necessary! I realize you've used bead caps to keep the eye pin from slipping through. I am inspired! THANK YOU!
