Visions of Spring Repurposed Jewelry

We've been getting soaked with rain for weeks now, but it finally looks like we might get some sunshine and warmer temperatures for the next several days. Usually by late March or early April,  I've made several trips to the nursery and color is popping up everywhere.  I do have a couple of geraniums that are still hanging in there, but they're getting more water logged by the day.  Unfortunately, there's not a hint of spring in my yard right now.  So, I went picking through my jewelry stash for a spring fix and put these together....

recycled keys with vintage jewelry
Yes!  Signs of spring direct from my jewelry stash.  I'll take it anywhere I can find it, and at least these won't die.

repurposed vintage jewelry
Lots of springy pink.  I added vintage pink earrings to the pocket watch and key.

vintage belt buckle necklace
The base on this necklace is a vintage belt buckle I found in an antique store a few weeks ago.  It's blooming with vintage buttons and rhinestones.

brooches made with vintage jewels and keys
I'm pretending the blue earring is a little Forget-me-not.  I wanted to try something different with the jeweled keys, so I used a pin with an attached bail.  This way it can be worn as a necklace or pin.

Until we dry out long enough for the flowers to bloom, these pictures from last spring can remind me of what it should look like around here....

I hope your garden is blooming.  Happy Spring.

Love your creations! Thanks for sharing your beautiful flowers. Our weather went South also. It has been very cool, rainy, gray, and dreary here, so have stayed in the last couple of days. I finished a couple of pieces, but need to get them photographed before they go out the door as gifts. This is a busy time of the year with B.Days, etc..
    Have a great week.

    Nothin' blooming here.........

    Oooooweeeeee!!! Have you been busy!

LOVE the key on the left in the first photo especially---perfect earring for the job! And how you put the rhinestones down all the keys---neat touch.

Of course I gotta say I love the rhinestone spacer on the dangle of the buckle---those just always jump out at me!

And those pinback/bails are really cool. I will have to look for those......

    Excellent stuff!

Hello Betsy! I got your blog from Savvy Southern Style. You greations are wonderful!!! I particularly love the keys. I used to have a key pendant which I wear with a heart pendant too. I love what you did to the real keys, turned them to beautiful pieces of jewelries. I hope we could develop a connection by following each others blogs. I would love that. Wishing you a happy wednesday! :)

Thanks for your comment on my blog post. The JB show is truly a fabulous show and you'd love it for your Salvaged Treasures creations. It's an annual event and coincides with "Where Women Create" annual conference, so maybe plan now for next year? It's always that 2nd week-end of September. Great prices too.
Your keys are great! The additional thought you put into it to make them versatile is so crucial to marketing. Well done my friend.

I just found your site and am definitely going to be poking around for a while. I also make repurposed jewelry and steampunk jewelry so I am loving a few of the ideas I've seen so far. Where do you find those pin backs with attached bails, I have a hard enough time finding bails locally?
