Repurposed Keys and Vintage Jewels

I've been having so much fun with the keys and vintage jewels I purchased a few weeks ago at an antique faire.  But, I have this problem when  faced with a mound of repurposing choices.  It's a little like shopping in a huge mall with hundreds of stores, and then walking out without purchasing a thing.  With too many choices, I just end up over thinking the whole thing.  Do you ever have that problem?

I know, I know, too many choices really isn't a problem, but it can be distracting.  My new found solution is to pick out only a few pieces at a time to work on, and then try to keep my eyes off the pile of vintage goodies staring back at me.  I'm much more productive this way.  Focus, focus, focus......

The six of these key necklaces were made with vintage clip on earrings and pieces of rhinestone necklaces.
Repurposed keys and vintage jewels

I added a bit of bling to these tiny 1" keys and their little lock.  The keys
still open the lock.

Three clip on earrings and antiqued filigrees.

Keys, keys, and more keys.

Vintage earrings and chippy old key escutcheons.

It's time to put my repurposing projects on hold for a week or so.  I still need to get out my Christmas decorations get started on my shopping.  I'll probably be limiting the shopping to our little mall here in town; I don't need to be distracted with too many choices.

I'm linking up with..........

I just have to sigh when I see your creations! They are so wonderful they are kind of killing me! The tiny key earrings that open the lock!!!! I just adore what you do with boring modern keys. Love the butterfly one, too!

So pretty - all of them! Yes - I definitely over think many pieces I am working on, to the point I have to just walk away from it for a while. I almost got my supplies back out today, but I need to get other things done.

Betsy! These are stunning!! I love that you used 'current' keys- I never would have thought they could look so pretty or be jewelery I'd love to wear!! :) My favorite is the black ribboned necklace. Gorgeous!
Thanks for your nice comment on my 'wreath'. Yes, I do have plans for the other half- it was the original plan in purchasing the baskets- I'm going to use it as a magazine/book rack in our master bathroom. :) Not very original, but I will like it better than what we're currently using.
I saw a super cute idea with the double baskets like I had on the blog, where someone used it on their deck railing and filled it with some coco moss and made it into a double sided flower planter! Super cute! If I had a smaller deck, I'd be doing that- but I'd need to find about 8 more of these guys to do it justice.
sorry for the long message- have a great day!

Hi Betsy, You are so lucky to have so much to choose from. Your creations are beautiful. My favorite one is the key with the iridescent cluster and the rhinestone row down the key. I think it is not that you have too much to choose from, my guess is the shopping, decorating, etc...is interferring in your creative thought process. You are extrememly creative and you definately have the talent weather you have a few or many items to choose from. (Just my 2 cents) *hugs*

I get that 'too much' thing, so many projects, this one first, or maybe I should do that step first, or this.....and nothing gets done!
I've been playing with flat keys as well and I love escutcheons, the chippier with paint the better. I've got several tiny pad locks waiting for insiration, the bling is a fantastic idea.
Did I comment on your shells before? They are crazy clever and creative!
    Susanne.

Oh my gosh, these are beautiful!.. And it's funny, because just recently I got this key in the mail for some car sales gimmick... and here's where "the sickness" comes in.. I thought to toss it in the trash, but CAUGHT MYSELF! "Surely I can MAKE something with this"!!! (0; And here you are!.. Thanks for the inspiration, and Happy Holidays to you! ~tina

The keys are simply beautiful - I don't have a fraction of a fraction of the creativity required to come up with something so lovely out of something so simple and plain. I will definately be following to see what else you come up with. Thank you for brightening my day. :)

I, too, have that problem, Betsy. As a matter of fact, I can't decide which of these lovely creations of yours I like the best! They are all sooo wonderful, I would have a difficult time chosing. How do you let go of them, once you create them? Are you ever tempted to keep them all?

Thanks for linking your creative talent to my party each week.
